Public Transport

Bus transport is provided in Orkney by Stagecoach. The Little Bothy is located a short distance from Route 6 (please double check the route when travelling as it is changed from time-to-time). Timetables and route information are available from the Orkney Islands Council Service Directory (a useful Transport Guide is also available). The buses also service the main ports and the airport. Bus drivers are normally happy to drop you off anywhere en route, simply have a chat with the driver when boarding and ask to be dropped off at the first turn off right after the road to Woodwick (Arwick Road). The Little Bothy is located a 15 minute walk from the main road. If coming by bus, please let us know in advance as we may be able to pick you up from the bottom of Arwick Road.

Coming from Finstown: After driving through Rendall village, you go down a hill. At the bottom of the hill is a turning right (to Woodwick). The road to The Little Bothy is the first right after the road to Woodwick and is signposted Arwick. Once on the Arwick road, continue straight up the road until you reach a farmyard, more-or-less where the tarmac ends is a small sign pointing left “to the beach” and a farm track – The Little Bothy is 100 metres up the track on the left-hand side (the track is small car friendly so long as you drive slowly).
